Google Chrome, une idée séduisante: prendre le meilleur des navigateurs existants et ajouter de nouvelles fonctionnalités pour créer le navigateur du 21e siècle.

Sur ce marché très concurrentiel, le pari est osé et l'enjeu de taille, même pour un géant. Voici le browser de Google dans sa version portable, à emporter partout sur une clé USB ou tout autre média amovible.

Google Chrome propose une interface minimaliste et efficace. Elle offre des fonctionnalités connues comme une page de démarrage qui rassemble les 9 sites les plus consultés ou des onglets placés en haut des fenêtres.

Plus originale, la barre d'adresse, rebaptisée Omnibox, sert aussi pour les recherches. Elle dispose d'un système d'auto-complétion amélioré qui mélange historique, marque-pages et recherches populaires pour offrir des résultats plus pertinents.

Dans l'air du temps, un mode "Vie privée" permet de surfer sans laisser de traces sur son disque dur. Reste qu'on s'interroge sur l'utilisation que fera Google des informations glanées via son navigateur. Le respect des données personnelles sera crucial pour lui éviter l'étiquette de "cheval de Troie", même si son mode de développement Open Source assure une certaine transparence.

Les développeurs de Google Chrome ont conçu l'architecture logicielle de leur navigateur à partir de zéro pour favoriser la stabilité, la rapidité et la sécurité.

Principale innovation, chaque onglet dispose de son propre processus. Un bug sur une page ou une attaque depuis un site malveillant restent confinés dans un espace restreint qui ne compromet pas le navigateur dans son ensemble. Pour améliorer la sécurité, une liste noire mise à jour en permanence protège l'utilisateur des sites dangereux.

La rapidité d'affichage est l'affaire de WebKit, le moteur de rendu de Safari qui équipe aussi le navigateur pour mobiles de Google sur Android. Pour le Javascript, toujours plus important avec l'essor des applications web, une machine virtuelle optimisée pour les performances a été créée de toutes pièces.

Enfin, Google Gears est directement intégré dans Google Chrome pour prendre en charge les fonctionnalités hors-ligne.

Porteur d'une vision à long terme, Google Chrome possède des qualités techniques à la mesure de ses ambitions. Son succès pourrait changer radicalement le visage du Web.

Seuls regrets, le bouton d'accès à l'aide depuis le logiciel n'a pas fonctionné lors de nos tests. Le fichier d'aide présent dans le dossier du programme contenait peu d'informations intéressantes. On aurait notamment souhaité avoir des informations plus précises sur les options de configuration accessibles au démarrage du logiciel.

Gratuit et complet, HWiNFO64 Portable est un très bon choix pour obtenir des informations précises sur votre matériel sans avoir à passer par un logiciel payant.

On a toujours besoin d'un logiciel de défragmentation sur son PC. Quand les premiers ralentissements se font sentir, il est tant de remettre un peu d'ordre dans la maison. C'est la mission d'UltraDefrag.

Pas besoin d'un fichier d'aide énorme pour comprendre son fonctionnement. UltraDefrag s'ouvre sur une fenêtre très moche où toutes les options apparaissent. Les disques à analyser s'affichent dans la partie supérieure. En dessous, les petites briques de couleur vous montrent les clusters indiquant les fichiers fragmentés ou non, ceux qui sont compressés ou inamovibles. Classique.

Analyser, défragmenter, compresser, trois actions à retenir et à employer pour un travail de qualité. En revanche, la catégorie "Settings" (paramètres) ne regroupe que quelques fichiers texte imbuvables et l'interface fait penser à Windows 95.

UltraDefrag n'est pas très rapide mais rend une copie très correcte. En revanche, niveau design, il faudrait vraiment faire quelques chose. C'est d'une tristesse...

With this new version of one of their most popular programs, users get an updated look, as well as a more integrated web browsing experience.

Probably one of the nicest features is the ability to search for specific topics online from the comfort of your desktop. AOL 9.6 comes with a gadget, where you can type in your search queries. Of course, in order to actually see the results, you have to have a browser available to bring up AOL's search engine. That's where this program starts to shine. AOL 9.6 offers you a browser feature, along with its competent search engine to find just what you're looking for.

Included as well is the popular messaging program, AOL Instant Messenger. Also known as AIM, this is arguably one of the longest running and most popular instant messaging programs on the internet to this day. The latest version of AIM comes installed on the program and is nicely integrated into the browser conveniently off to one side. It won't usually get in the way of your internet surfing expeditions, but it's there in case you want to chat with friends just the same.

Unfortunately, there's nothing overly innovative about AOL 9.6. Everything here has been seen before, and some might argue that newer browsers with social media integration do it even better. With Facebook chat built into browsers like RockMelt and Flock, it sometimes seems as though programs like AIM are largely becoming unnecessary. In addition, AOL 9.6 has a tendency of crashing or freezing up if you're running even a few additional programs at the same time.

AOL 9.6 certainly isn't breaking any new ground, but for loyal America Online users it's a nice upgrade.

The story of The Binding of Isaac is strange to begin with. Isaac?s mother hears the voice of God who tells her that he demands a sacrifice to prove her faith. Hearing this Isaac attempts to escape through the basement and starts his encounter with bizarre creatures and lost siblings, eventually facing his mother.

Gameplay in The Binding of Isaac consists of randomly generated dungeons and enemies. It makes each session with the game new and fresh and with over one hundred power-up items, The Binding of Isaac feels fresh each time.

Using the term ?random? and ?awesome? are two key points because the game contains four chapters with eight overall levels. Include over fifty enemy types and double digit boss encounters and also include more unlockable content and then The Binding of Isaac has limitless replayability.

Players use the standard WASD control scheme with the arrow buttons as directional fire. Isaac uses his tears as weapons and the more he cries, the better his attacks are. Add in the various power-ups and The Binding of Isaac gives tons of content for the player to use.

The Binding of Isaac also gives players items to use in-game, the most common being a bomb that creates area damage. The player experience is deep for the style of the game.

Visually, The Binding of Isaac uses cartoon style graphics combined with mature content to create a very strange experience. It is not uncommon to be surprised by some of the enemies in the game and the designs of the bosses. The style of The Binding of Isaac works perfectly for the tone of the escape and eventual confrontation with Isaac?s mother.

On the audio, The Binding of Isaac has a very ominous tone and everything feels dark. With headphones, The Binding of Isaac has an ambiance that can become unnerving, but overall it is one of the best soundtracks for a game.

The Binding of Isaac is a unique experience. The old-school controls, combined with a strange story, create an addicting game. With the random level generator, it is possible that each session with The Binding of Isaac is always going to be different.

The Binding of Isaac is excellent, but the content is not meant for children.

FIFA Manager 12 is the latest version of the classic soccer sim in which you take charge of a club and attempt to lead them to glory.

In FIFA Manager 12 you are responsible for all aspects of the evolution of your team. As coach, you need to take care of the players, organize training, and prepare strategies to help win all the competitions you're entering.

In addition to the tactical functions of a football coach in FIFA Manager 12 you must attend to other important matters, such as finance, new contracts, transfers, budget, management of image rights of the club, official communications with the press, etc. You don't have to run everything yourself though, and there are assistants available to automate some of these tasks.

There aren't many significant improvements to report in FIFA Manager 12 from the previous version, other than updated teams and player data, and graphical improvements to the 3D match view.

On the subject of the 3D match view, the graphics engine in FIFA Manager 12 is a long way short of FIFA 12. Animation can be choppy and up close the players are quite hideous, even bearing a resemblance to zombies with their strange red and green eyes! Bizarrely, there's no in-game sounds in FIFA Manager 12, which leaves matches feeling a bit flat.

Still, watching matches in FIFA Manager 12 is arguably more entertaining than in Football Manager 2012, and we were very impressed with the in-game interface, which allows you to change tactics and strategy, and shout instructions to the team and individual players without leaving the match.

The also program contains hundreds of clubs, with more than 41,000 players and the top leagues in the world to choose from.

The complexity of FIFA Manager 12 is a bit daunting at first but luckily it doesn't take long to find your way around the game.
